Secret Jardin DF25200 Flange 200 mm

Ø 200 mm connector for the DF25 flange holder. This is the size every Dark Room ships with from the factory, so it is usually the part you are replacing or adding.

What you throw away by reducing to 150

The temptation is understandable. You still have 150 mm ducting from a previous tent, and with a reducer it fits a 200 mm port too. Then you need buy nothing new.

Work it through in area, because that is what air passes through, not diameter:

• Ø 200 mm gives roughly 314 cm² of opening.
• Ø 150 mm gives roughly 177 cm².

That is 44 percent less cross-section, and the restriction sits in your whole air path, not just in the reducer. Your fan has to push the same volume through barely half the opening, so velocity rises and with it resistance and noise. A Dark Room 150 wants 350 to 650 m³/h with a filter fitted; forcing that through 150 mm is exactly where people conclude their fan is disappointing.

The 200 mm on these tents is not decoration. If you do want to run at 150 mm, do it deliberately and with a fan that can take it, not because there is ducting in the loft.

With a reducer yes, but you give up nearly half your cross-section. Consider the DF25150 or a larger fan.

Why is this the standard size on the Dark Room?
Because the advised extraction for those tents suits it well, with room to run the fan throttled back and therefore quiet.

Can I move up to 250 mm later?
Yes, just swap the connector in the same holder.
