Repair set of 220 mm for closing a DF16 flange opening. Contains two patches with different outer faces, each for one side of the canvas.

Black on the outside, reflective on the inside

The box contains two patches that do not look the same, and that is not a packaging decision. Each side of a tent canvas has a different job, and the patch has to take that job over.

The inside of your tent is reflective. Everything on that side bounces light back to the crop. Stick a black square over a hole on the inside and it swallows precisely the light you paid to generate. On a single hole you will not notice, but it is why the inner patch is mirrored: it joins in rather than being a dead spot.

The outside is black and needs to stay that way. Black absorbs any light the inner layer still lets through, so nothing shows from outside. A reflective patch on the outside would do the opposite and stand out.

Together they do one more thing: two layers of adhesive overlapping through the fabric close the hole mechanically, where a single layer hangs off one face only and lets go after a while of heat and damp.

Bond onto intact fabric

The 220 mm is generous relative to the DF16 opening, and that margin is the working part. The adhesive has to bond to fabric that has not been cut. Get the surface dry and dust-free first, because mylar bonds poorly onto a film of fine dust.

Can I swap the patches round?
Better not. Black belongs outside and reflective inside, or you lose light inside and become more visible outside.

How long does it hold?
On a clean, dry surface, permanently. Grease, dust or damp on the canvas is the usual reason a patch lifts.

Can I close a DF25 hole with this?
No, that opening is larger. Take the 350 mm PatchIT25.
