What this is really about

A floor tray gets sold as an aid to keeping things clean. It is that, but it is not the reason to own one.

Do the arithmetic. An 11 litre pot you flush properly will pass a couple of litres easily. Do that with eight pots at once with nothing in the bottom of your tent, and that water goes out through the zips and across your floor. In a shed that is annoying. On a wooden loft floor, or a storey with someone underneath, it is a bill many times the cost of an entire grow setup.

The roughly 5 cm edge is the measurement that matters here, not the area. Laying flat plastic under your pots does nothing: water simply runs off it. A tray with a raised edge holds it until you take it up.

Onto the poles, not loose on the floor

The liner fixes to the tent poles with hook-and-loop straps. That is more than convenience: a loose tray slides to one side under the weight of pots, the edge on the other side folds inward, and the water goes over it at exactly that point. Fixed in place, the edge stays upright.

For cleaning you lift the whole thing out, rather than lying in a corner of your tent with a cloth.

For catching a leak it is fine. It is not a reservoir and not a flood table: the edge is 5 cm and no more.
