Terra Aquatica AeroFarm 45L 2 inch

The AeroFarm is Terra Aquatica's smallest and simplest aeroponic system: a 45 litre reservoir with 2 inch net pots in the lid. Aeroponics has a reputation for being complicated, and this system exists to disprove it.

What aeroponics does differently

In most hydroponic systems the roots sit or hang in a substrate that holds moisture: clay pebbles, coco, rockwool. In aeroponics they hang largely in air, inside a closed, humid space, with nutrient solution applied as a film or mist.

The advantage is oxygen. A root hanging in air has unlimited access to it, where a root in wet substrate always competes with water for the space between particles. More oxygen at the roots means faster uptake and faster growth, and that is why aeroponics exists as a technique.

The drawback you often hear is that the system has no buffer: lose power and exposed roots dry faster than they would in a pot of substrate. That remains true. It is the trade-off you accept.

Why this version is simple

The system is one reservoir with a lid holding the net pots. No separate growing beds, no long pipe runs, no complicated distribution. You fill the reservoir, put cuttings or young plants in the net pots, and the system does the rest.

The 45 litres also gives more buffer than you might expect from aeroponics, which keeps EC and pH steadier than a smaller tank would.

Two inch net pots

The size decides what this system is best at. Two inches is small: intended for cuttings, seedlings and young plants, where what you mainly want is to build a good root mass quickly. To run larger plants on in the same system, the 3 inch version is the better choice.
