Why growth light looks cold

Set a growth bar beside a bloom bar and the difference is immediate: one is bluish white, the other warm and ruddy. That is not a matter of taste but the whole point of what each is for.

Cool white light carries proportionally more blue. Blue light keeps a plant compact: stems stay short, leaves stay close together, and the plant invests in foliage rather than height. Exactly what you want during vegetative growth, because a plant that stretches in those weeks carries that stretch through the rest of the grow.

Colour temperature in kelvin is the shorthand for it. The higher the number, the cooler and bluer the light appears. Around 6500 kelvin you are in the range that resembles a bright spring day, and that is not coincidentally the season when plants in nature are growing too.

In practice: use this bar as the main light in a small space, or as supplementary light alongside a larger fixture. When you move to flowering the BLOOM version is the logical next step, and many growers leave both hanging and switch between them.
