Light that comes from the side

In a full flowering tent something happens that your main lamp cannot fix. The top leaves catch almost everything, and whatever sits thirty centimetres lower stands in the shade of the crop itself. Those lower buds stay small, not because you have too little light but because the light does not reach them.

A narrow ninety centimetre bar suits that job. You hang it beside the crop rather than above it, vertically against a tent pole or horizontally along the side at half height, and it then lights precisely the layer that gets nothing from overhead. Being waterproof and running on 24 volts makes that easier, because it can hang among the plants without moisture being a concern.

Two things to watch. Keep roughly fifteen to thirty-five centimetres from the leaf, sideways as well, because a bar resting against a plant scorches it. And choose this version rather than the growth one: lower down you want the same red accent as up top, or you push the bottom buds in a different direction from the rest.

In a small space it can simply be your main light. The ninety centimetres then covers a narrow tent or a cabinet along its length.
