The Daisy Reflector 60 is an umbrella-shaped 60 centimetre reflector you open above a lamp. It catches light that would otherwise fall beside your crop and sends it back down.

A reflector makes no light

That sounds obvious and it is still where most expectations go wrong. A reflector adds nothing to what your lamp produces. It only relocates: light that was leaving sideways or upward now heads toward your plants after all.

How much that gains you therefore depends entirely on how much light was being lost without it. Above a bare lamp in an open room with no walls that is a great deal, and you notice it immediately. In a tent with fresh, taut reflective walls little was being lost already, and the gain is small. Anyone buying a reflector to make an underpowered lamp stronger will be disappointed.

Where it does earn its place: a lamp in a room without reflective walls, a setup where the lamp hangs high, or an older tent whose lining has gone dull. In those cases a reflector does the same work as a heavier lamp, without drawing any more power.
