Secret Jardin - TNOLED 2x20W Bloom

The TNOLED 2x20W Bloom combines two 20 watt flowering strips in one fixture, 40 watts together at an efficiency of 2.4 µmol/J, for an area of 60 × 40 cm.

Two narrow strips instead of one wide bar

The same wattage could have gone into a single bar. That Secret Jardin place two side by side has to do with the distance this kind of lighting hangs at.

Above a cabinet or a shelf a lamp often hangs at twenty to thirty centimetres. At that short range light has not yet mixed: whatever sits directly beneath a strip gets noticeably more than what sits ten centimetres to the side, and one wide bar makes a single bright stripe with shadow beside it. Hang two narrower strips apart and their cones overlap exactly where your crop stands, and the stripe disappears.

The higher you hang, the less this matters, because light mixes on its own with distance. In a two metre tent the difference is small. At the short distances this set is built for it is the whole point, and it is why the spacing in the frame is fixed rather than adjustable.

In practice: hang the fixture level and leave the strips at their factory spacing. And keep enough distance from the leaf, because two strips close above a plant give more intensity at short range than you would expect.

Why two strips rather than one bar?
