Canna - Aqua Flores A+B

Aqua Flores is the bloom feed from the CANNA Aqua line, for recirculating hydro systems. There is one thing to know before buying it, and it is on CANNA's own site: this line does not belong on coco.

Why a recirculating feed on coco causes a deficiency

A feed for recirculating systems assumes your substrate is inert: that it adds nothing to your feed water and takes nothing out of it. Rockwool and clay pebbles indeed do neither.

Soil is not inert; it holds nutrients that come on top of your feed. With coco it is precisely the other way round: coco extracts certain elements from your feed water. That is the property that makes coco feeds bring extra calcium with them.

Put a recirculating feed on coco and those two work against each other. The feed is composed for a substrate that removes nothing, and the substrate removes plenty. CANNA state the result flatly: it leads to a nutrient deficiency.

This is not a matter of dosing a bit harder. It is about which elements disappear and which do not, and a higher EC cannot correct that. If you grow on coco, CANNA Coco is the line, not this one.

What is in Aqua that is not in Hydro

CANNA's two hydro lines differ in more than pH behaviour. Aqua additionally contains, per CANNA, silicon, humic and fulvic acids and algae extracts.

That is an unusual addition to a mineral base feed, where components like these normally come from separate additives. In a closed loop it makes more sense than it seems: anything you have to dose separately is one more thing to keep an eye on in a reservoir whose composition is already moving.

And like the rest of the line, Aqua Flores contains pH stabilisers, so the plant keeps the pH in your reservoir within range itself rather than you adjusting it daily.

In use

Always add component A to your water first, stir it through well, and only then add component B. Never directly into each other; in concentrated form the salts react and part of it precipitates.

Use Aqua Flores throughout the flowering period, following Aqua Vega. Follow your EC and pH; recirculating growing demands it, and CANNA say nothing different.

If you run to waste with a drain rather than a closed loop, CANNA Hydro Flores is the matching feed.
