This is the figure to remember at the switch to flowering, and it is exactly the kind of difference you do not see coming.

Bio Vega, the grow nutrient from the same range, runs at 20 ml per 10 litres. Bio Flores runs at 40 ml per 10 litres, a factor of two higher. Two bottles from one brand, with the same label design, side by side on the shelf, and a dose that doubles at the moment you switch.

So anyone keeping to habit at the changeover gives half of what is needed, precisely in the phase where the plant asks for most. You will not see the effect as a deficiency straight away but as a disappointing bloom, which is a harder problem to trace back.

The frequency does stay the same: one to three times a week, depending on your pot size and the size of your plant.

Hop extract, and why it is in there

Bio Flores contains an extract of hops (Humulus lupulus). That is an unusual choice in a flowering nutrient and CANNA put it there deliberately, for extra flowering power.

The rest of the feed comes from fermented plant material, which according to CANNA is why the minerals arrive in proportions the plant can use rather than as separate salts. That fermented material also contains betaine and a good quantity of amino acids.

CANNA report that their own research shows crops grown on BIOCANNA reach a higher level of certain essential oils, which influences the scent and flavour of the harvest. That is their research and it stands here as their claim, not as a measurement of ours.

No acidifying needed

Bio Flores carries the same pH-buffering fruit acids as Bio Vega, so the same applies here: the solution does not have to be acidified. The mechanism is set out on the Bio Vega page.

Dosing

Shake the bottle, dissolve around 40 ml into 10 litres, and give this one to three times a week. Exactly how often you judge from your pot and your plant, not from the calendar.

Never mix more than a single day's worth: after 24 hours the solution is finished. CANNA prefer hand watering. If you are tied to a drip system, rinse through each time or your drippers will clog.

Keep the bottle shut, dark and above freezing. Polyethylene, free of PVC and cadmium.

Organic cultivation

Control Union Certifications has approved Bio Flores for organic growing, and it is OMRI listed under the NOP programme. It holds no animal product. If you work under a certificate yourself, go by your own body's list.
