Hydro Vega is the growth feed from the CANNA Hydro line, meant for inert media in a run-to-waste system. That last phrase matters more than it sounds, because it is not your substrate that decides which CANNA line you need.
The choice is about your water, not your substrate
CANNA run two hydroponic lines, Hydro and Aqua, and both work on the same inert media: rockwool, clay pebbles, mapito, perlite. So you cannot tell them apart by looking at your tray.
The difference is what happens to your feed water after it has passed the roots. In run-to-waste it goes past the plant once and then to a drain. In a recirculating system it returns to the reservoir and starts again. Hydro is for the first, Aqua for the second, and CANNA say so themselves in their own FAQ.
Why run-to-waste is the forgiving route
An inert substrate does nothing. It holds your roots and that is all: it adds no nutrients and removes none. That is exactly why you can grow precisely in it, and also why a mistake goes straight through. What you put in the water is what the plant gets.
In run-to-waste that comes with a large consolation. If your mix is wrong, you flush it away. The water passes the plant once and is gone, so the next watering is a clean start. CANNA put it this way: a wrong composition can be rinsed away, and that limits the risks of growing on an inert medium.
In a closed loop you cannot do that. There a mistake keeps circulating until you replace the whole reservoir. That is why CANNA call run-to-waste the less complex alternative, and it is a good argument for starting there if you do not have years behind you.
The price is a drain. Without somewhere for your run-off to go, this stops being an option, and recirculation becomes the route.
Which bottle is which
A small practical point CANNA add themselves, and one you appreciate at a hundred-litre reservoir: in the Hydro products the contents of the A bottle are coloured and the contents of the B bottle are colourless. If you are unsure which bottle is in your hand, you do not have to read the label.
In use
Always add component A to your water first, stir it through well, and only then add component B. Never A and B directly into each other: in concentrated form the salts from the two bottles react and part of it precipitates, and whatever precipitates never reaches your plant.
Use Hydro Vega throughout the vegetative phase, then move to Hydro Flores. Take your time mixing the reservoir; CANNA call that essential themselves, and it is the cheapest way to avoid trouble.
If you use CANNA Rhizotonic alongside, add it before you adjust the pH. Rhizotonic is naturally a pH-plus product, so correcting before it goes in gives you a reading that no longer holds afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
Hydro or Aqua?
Hydro for run-to-waste, Aqua for recirculating systems. The substrate is the same for both; it is about what happens to your water.
What if I get my mix wrong?
In run-to-waste you flush it away and start clean at the next watering. That is this system's main consolation.
Can I pour A and B together?
No. A into your water first, stir well, and only then B.
Which bottle is A?
The coloured one. CANNA keep the contents of the B bottle colourless.
Do I need a drain?
For run-to-waste, yes. Without one, a recirculating system with CANNA Aqua is the route.
