Aptus - Fungone

A ready-to-use foliar spray against fungal pressure, based on stabilised hydrogen peroxide with colloidal silver. Almost everything you need to know about using it follows from one property: hydrogen peroxide is unstable.

What unstable means here

Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen. That is exactly why it works: on contact it releases oxygen, and that oxidising reaction damages the cell walls of fungal spores on the leaf. It is also exactly why nothing is left behind, because what remains after the reaction is water and air.

Light and heat speed that breakdown up. Spray under a running lamp and the product reacts away before it has done its job, and you are left with wet leaf under full light, which burns. Hence the rule: spray under dimmed light or at the start of the dark period. That is not caution, it is the reason the product works at all.

It also cleans the leaf

A second effect is less well known. The spray lifts dust and greasy film off the leaf surface. Stomata clogged with residue open again, and a cleaner leaf catches more light. That is not a marketing side effect, it is simply what an oxidising cleaner does to a dirty surface.

Mist undiluted and evenly across all leaves until there is a uniform layer. This version is ready to use, so there is nothing to dilute or calculate. Do mix only what you will use and leave no remainder standing in the sprayer.

Preventive, not a rescue

Fungone is a contact treatment on the leaf. It hits what is there at that moment and is not systemic, so it builds no protection for next week. Use it as routine before pressure rises, not as an emergency measure against an outbreak already running.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not spray under the lamp? Two reasons. Light and heat break the product down before it works, and wet leaf under full light burns.

Do I need to dilute it? No, this version is ready to use. For larger areas there is a 1:4 concentrate.

Does anything stay on my crop? Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen. On the colloidal silver, the manufacturer makes its own statements; the spray itself leaves no layer you can see or feel.

Does it work once mildew is established? It hits what it touches, but it is a product for routine use beforehand. With an outbreak underway, humidity and air movement are the things to fix.
