Everything in this box is matched to everything else, which is what makes it a good place to start. Twelve plugs, a tray those twelve fit into, and exactly enough liquid to soak them.

It works like this: you pour half the bottle, 125 ml, together with 125 ml of water over the plugs in the tray. You wait a few minutes until the plugs have absorbed it and pour off whatever is left. Then you set the seeds five millimetres deep into the hole in the middle of each plug. You keep the other half of the bottle for the first watering after you transplant.

The tray and lid carry over to a next round. The plugs do not: those are per crop, as with any starting medium.

What to buy for round two, and where it goes wrong

For a next round you need new plugs and new germination liquid. For the latter, Seedbooster Plus is the obvious choice, and it works well, but watch the dose.

The bottle in this box is called Seedbooster and is mixed one to one with water. Seedbooster Plus is a different product: 10 ml rather than 250, dosed at seven drops per litre. That is roughly two thousand times more dilute. Reach for the Plus on your second round while following the instruction from this box and you will be a long way out. Follow the dose printed on the bottle in your hand.
