Climate & Ventilation — 60x40

A 60x40 is still a small tent, but it is deep enough to finish one plant in rather than only take cuttings. That is the difference that decides your ventilation choice, because once you flower, odour starts to count and the carbon filter goes into the calculation.

Flowering means filtering

While you are rooting cuttings or keeping a mother, you can do without a carbon filter. Flower in this tent and that changes, and then the filter is not an afterthought but part of choosing the fan. A filter costs static pressure, so a fan that was ample without one has to have enough left with it.

Adjustable still beats large

Here too, most Ø 100 mm fans are generously sized. The Vents Quietline is the quiet choice, the VKO the simple one, and the Garden Highpro Proline the most straightforward. Run it low in growth and give it more in flower, when the plant transpires harder and heat builds.

Humidity runs the other way in flower

In propagation you want to hold humidity; in flower you want rid of it. So the same tent needs more air changes in the second half of your grow than in the first. That is exactly why a fan with speeds is worth more here than a larger one without.

What this selection does not include

Ducting, couplers and silencers sit in their own groups and are not tied to a tent size. Pick the same diameter there as your fan, so you never have to reduce.

Frequently asked questions

Can I flower a plant here?
Yes, this size suits that. Do plan for a carbon filter and for more air changes than in the growth phase.

Which fan with a filter?
Not the smallest. Take one you can turn down that still has headroom with the filter on, because the filter costs capacity you do not get back.

Is this the same as a 40x40?
Largely the same range, a different use. A 40x40 is a propagation or mother tent; a 60x40 you can grow out.
