A 90x60 sits at the top of what Ø 100 mm handles comfortably. It works, and for most builds with room to spare, but this is the size where you need to know when to step up instead. That does not depend on the tent so much as on what happens inside and around it.

When Ø 100 mm is still enough

If the tent stands in a cool room, does not carry an excessive amount of light, and you choose from the upper end of the range, Ø 100 mm is fine here. The AC Infinity CLOUDLINE Pro S4 and T4 step themselves down on temperature, and the Vents VK and TT cover the same range without control.

When you are better off at Ø 125 mm

Three things push you up and they stack: a warm room, a lot of light, and the combination of a carbon filter with a silencer. Each costs capacity or pressure. If two of the three come together, look at Ø 125 mm, which also has the deepest choice of any diameter.

Buying generous is cheaper than buying twice

At this size the temptation is to buy exactly enough. The trouble is that you only find out it was tight months later, when the filter loads up and summer arrives. A fan running at half power is quieter, draws less and lasts longer than a smaller one running flat out.

What this selection does not include

Ducting, couplers and silencers are not tied to a tent size and sit in their own groups. Pick the same diameter there as your fan.
