Growing Systems — Terra Aquatica

This category holds three ways of getting water to your plants. One works on suction without power, one on gravity, and Terra Aquatica is the third: active systems with a pump and often an air stone. That gives you more control over what the roots receive, and in return it asks you to keep up with it.

The systems, and what separates them

The 15 litre WaterFarm and 35 litre AquaFarm are individual pots over a reservoir, with a pump circulating the water. The 45 litre AeroFarm, with 2 or 3 inch netcups, works by misting rather than flow. The GrowStream 10 and 20 are drip systems for several plants, and the RainForest 72 is the large build. The WaterPack ACS V3 belongs with the set.

What being active means in practice

A pump that fails shows within a day, where a gravity system hides a fault far longer. Against that, you adjust EC and pH for a shared reservoir in one go rather than pot by pot, and the roots get oxygen continuously. Count checking as a fixed part of your week, along with flushing lines and drippers.

Netcups and separate parts

The 2 and 3 inch netcups can be ordered separately, as can the CuttingBoard. That helps because these are the parts that break or that you want more of when you run more plants, without buying a whole system again.

Which system suits how many plants?
WaterFarm and AquaFarm are per plant; GrowStream and RainForest are built for several plants on one reservoir.

Can I use any nutrient?
Use one intended for recirculating systems. Thick organic mixes clog pumps and drippers.

How often should I change the reservoir?
More often than with run-to-waste systems, because dissolved salts accumulate in a reservoir that circulates. Measure, and change on the measurement.
