Harvesting & Drying — Drying Nets

A drying net does one thing a table or a sheet of newspaper cannot: let air reach every side. On a flat surface the underside stays damp, and that is exactly where mould starts. The mesh hangs free, so air circulates all round and nothing needs turning.

Capacity in height

A net wins where your floor is already taken by the next round: it hangs off the frame and costs no square metres. The economy net at 60 cm across hangs 160 cm tall, the round Fertraso at 62 cm comes to 225 cm and the Trinatech at 90 cm to 185 cm. So look not only at the diameter but at what fits under your frame.

Larger means fewer tiers

That is the trade-off you are making here. The economy net, the Prodry 55 and both Fertrasos have 8 tiers; the Prodry 75 and the Trinatech 90 have 6, the Trinatech with 30 cm between them. So you trade tiers for room per tier. For lots of small branches eight narrow tiers work better; for large buds that must not lie flat you want exactly that height between them.

Round or square

The square Fertraso at 82.5 x 82.5 cm uses the corners of a square tent better than a round net of comparable size, which in an 80 or 100 cm tent can easily be worth a tier. Round hangs more freely when the net sits in the middle of a room. All the models here fold away; the Trinatech goes back to 35 cm across by 6 deep and comes with a storage bag, and its tiers can be removed two at a time for a smaller harvest. Frequently asked questions

Where do I hang the net?
Not in the direct airflow of your extraction. Drying too fast seals the outside while the core is still damp, and you only find that out much later. Slow and even gives the better result.

How full can a tier be?
Full enough that air still passes between the pieces. A packed tier dries faster at the edges than in the middle, and then you get two qualities out of one net.

Can I wash the net?
Knock it out and rinse by hand, and let it dry completely before folding it away. A net put away damp comes out differently next time than you were hoping.
