ViparSpectra runs three series side by side, and the first thing to know about this brand is that the model names mislead if you read them as wattage. The P2000 is a 200 W fixture, but the XS2000 is 240 W and the XS1500 Pro is 150 W. So always read the stated power rather than the number in the name.

The three series

The P series, with the P600 at 95 W, the P1000 at 100 W and the P2000 at 200 W, is the entry line. The XS series runs the XS1000 at 100 W, the XS1500 Pro at 150 W and the XS2000 at 240 W. The KS series is the heaviest, with the KS3000 at 320 W and the KS5000 at 500 W for larger spaces.

Choose on area, not on watts alone

Power tells you about consumption, not about how the light is spread. Two fixtures of equal power can throw quite different footprints, and you notice that at the edges of your tent. So work from your floor area and from how much height you can give the fixture. In a low tent a stronger fixture is not automatically better, because you have to hang it closer than is good for the plants.

What we do not write down

Where a manufacturer's light output figures contradict each other, or cannot be tied unambiguously to the fixture, we leave the figure off and say why on the product page. That applies across the whole lighting category and not only to this brand.

Work from the area and the phase. A fixture meant for 100 x 100 often ends up hanging too close in an 80.

Is the XS2000 more powerful than the P2000?
Yes, despite the matching number in the name. That is exactly why you should read the wattage.
