Grow Tents — 120x120

A square metre and a half is where a grow tent stops being furniture. The choice here is wide and the tents resemble each other closely; what actually decides it is not the tent but what has to go around it.

The tent is the cheapest part here

Over this area you are budgeting a 450 to 500 watt lamp, extraction at Ø 150 or Ø 160 mm with a carbon filter on it, and more than one circulation fan. Together that costs more than the tent. So choose the tent not on price alone but on whether the frame carries that weight and whether the height lets your lamp hang at distance.

What the frame has to hold

A half-kilowatt lamp plus a carbon filter is quickly tens of kilos on one structure. The stated load rating differs per tent and sits on the product page. This is the size where that figure genuinely matters, because on smaller tents you rarely hang enough to reach it.

Separate or as a system

Mind the W in the name

Some models exist in a square and a wide version with almost the same name. The Dark Street 120 is square; the 120W is the 120x60 strip. The same goes for the Dark Box DB120 and DB120W. When ordering, look at the floor plan and not only at the number.

Frequently asked questions

Is this too big for a first tent?
Not inherently, but the surrounding costs scale with it. To start smaller, 80x80 or 100x100 is a gentler beginning.

How much weight can I hang?
It is stated per tent. Add lamp, filter and fan together before ordering.

What is the difference between 120 and 120W?
The floor plan. The 120 is square; the 120W is 120 by 60.
