Why a fabric pot behaves differently

In a rigid pot, a root that reaches the wall carries on circling around the rootball. In a fabric pot that same root tip dries back at the edge and the plant branches back into the substrate. The result is a finer, denser root system in the same volume. That is what fabric pots are for, and it is a real difference rather than marketing.

What that means for watering

This is where new users come unstuck. A fabric pot also evaporates through its wall, so it dries faster than a rigid pot of the same volume, especially in a warm tent with plenty of air movement. Expect to water more often rather than on the same schedule. On a tray or in a system with standing water that matters less; on a bare floor you notice immediately.

Alongside the ordinary pots, Gronest make Wall Planters in 1.5, 4.5 and 10 litres, meant to hang on a wall rather than stand on the floor. That solves for space, not for root volume: choose the capacity on the plant rather than on the spot.
