Growing Systems — Grow Tables

Two quite different things share this name, and the difference is big enough to settle before you start. One table carries your plants. The other waters them.

The table as furniture

The G-tools grow tables are a flat top with a raised lip in 100 x 100 cm and 200 x 100 cm, each with or without castors. They carry a Danish tray or plant tray, catch run-off and put your plants at working height, which you notice in your back the first time you spend an evening trimming. On castors you roll the whole setup aside to get behind it. The two Bonanza tables at 0.35 and 1 m2 are aluminium and built for the drip tray of the cabinet of the same name, which on the smaller one measures 0.52 x 0.52 metres.

The table as a system

With the AutoPot Tray Systems the table is the watering system. The tray fills through an AQUAvalve and the pots take up what they need, with no pump and no power. So what you buy here is not a surface but a complete setup, and the rest of that family sits under Watering Systems.

Choose on pot size, not on plant count

The tray systems run from Auto3 with three 25 litre pots or three 18.9 litre Smartpots, through Auto5 with five 35 litre pots and Auto8 with eight pots at 8.5 or 15 litres, to Auto9 with nine 25 litre pots or nine Smartpots. The number in the name says nothing about floor area: eight pots of 8.5 litres and five of 35 do not ask for the same space. Work from the pot size your plant needs, then see how many still fit.

What belongs under it and on it

A table that feeds from below has to stand level, or one side fills while the other stays dry. Separate pots for your setup are under Pots & Trays, and tanks, pumps and cooling for the water beneath it under Water & Irrigation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put an AutoPot tray system on a G-tools table?
You can, and it is a common combination: the tray does the water, the table does the height. Watch the weight, because a filled tray with 25 litre pots weighs considerably more than it looks.

Why castors?
Because otherwise you cannot get behind it. In a full room the back of a table is the place you only look at once something has gone wrong, and it is exactly where water collects.

Do I still need a tank with a tray?
Yes. The tray distributes water, it does not store it. The tank sits higher and feeds by gravity, which is precisely why the whole thing works without power.
